The county of Leavenworth Kansas celebrates their 99th annual Veterans Day Parade on Nov. 12, beginning at 10:30 a.m.
The parade route is along Delaware Street from 1st to 7th Street.
At 11:00am the parade will stop for a moment of silence to honor Veterans.
The Leavenworth Veterans Day Parade is the oldest and largest Veterans Day parade in the Midwest.
Fort Leavenworth has participated in the Leavenworth County Veterans Day parade since its inception in 1919.
Local Veterans groups coordinate the parade each year to foster patriotism and positive support of the military. Fort Leavenworth’s participation gives the community an opportunity to thank service members for their sacrifices and service.
Fort Leavenworth supports the parade with a color guard to lead parade and military marching contingents that include international officers. The post Military Police and Fire Department are also invited to participate.
