Families Together and Fort Leavenworth's Exceptional Family Member Program (EFMP) invite parents/guardians, educators, and other family members to learn about developing the Individualized Education Program (IEP) document, including:

 

•Present levels – the foundation of the IEP •Annual goals •Measuring and reporting progress •Placement – the least restrictive environment •Active and effective parent/guardian participation in the IEP meeting

 

We begin with the basics - what an IEP is, brainstorming and preplanning, understanding the various components of the IEP from developing the Present Level of Academic Achievement and Functional Performance to determining the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). Effective communication skills and measuring success in the IEP will also be presented. Discover strategies to become an effective IEP team member.
